For this tutorial, you will need:

Paint Shop Pro 9 Although it should work in earlier versions
The fairy tube I used

Sparkle Tube

Here

Download sparklewht2.zip. Unzip it into a folder of your choice and open it in PSP. Go to File > Export > Picture Tube. Give the tube a name if it hasn't already got one and click OK.
Fonts -
these aren't free fonts, you can use any fonts you wish.

Open the font file then minimise it, it will be available in PSP. This saves you installing lot's of fonts into your windows fonts folder and slowing your pc down.

Are you ready? Then let's begin!

1) Open the tube in PSP, open a New Canvas and use the following settings:


2) Click on the tube canvas, go to the layer palette and make sure raster 1 is selected, (raster 3 is the layer with the copyright information on) click on the Copy Icon

3) Click on the new, blank canvas and go to Edit > Paste > As New Layer or click on the Paste As New Layer Icon

You should now have this:

4) Go to Image > Resize and use the following settings. (Make sure Resize layers is UN-ticked)

5) Click on the Selection Tool, set it to rectangle and draw a selection around the tube, leaving lot's of room on the left. Do not deselect.

6) Now using the Dropper Tool, Choose a colour from the tube.

7) Add a new layer by going to Layers > New Raster Layer. Go to the layer palette and drag Raster 3 under Raster 2.

8) Flood Fill the selection.

9) Using the Mover Tool, move the tube so she's slightly out of the selection.

10) Click on Raster 3 layer to make it active and go to Selections > Invert. Now click on the tube layer (Raster2) and press the delete key on your keyboard.
This will delete the part of the tube that is outside the selection area.

Go to Selections > Select None

(*Please Note: if you're doing this tutorial in PSP 7, the next stage, cropping, is a little different.
To crop in PSP 7, click on the crop tool and go to the Tool Options palette, click on Crop Settings. When the window opens, click on Select Opaque Area - Current Layer. Click ok then on the Tool Options palette, click on Crop Image.)

11) Click on the Crop Tool. On the Tool Options, click on the 'Snap crop rectangle to: Layer Opaque' icon.

You will now have this:

12) Go back to the tool options and click on the tick to crop the image.

Your image will now be cropped.

13) Click on the Rectangle Tool (this can be found under the Text Tool) and use the following settings:

14) Draw a small square. Go to the layer palette, right click on the vector layer and choose Convert To Raster Layer.

15) Go to Effects > Plug ins > Xenofex > Distress and use the following settings:

You will now have this:

16) Now right click on that layer again and duplicate it twice so you have a total of 3.

17) Turn Off the visibility of the 2 copied layers and click on the original layer to make it active.
Go to Effects > Unplugged Effects > Snow and apply the following settings:

18) Using the mover tool, move this square out of the way. Go to the layer palette, unhide the first copied layer and click on it to make it active.
Go to Effects > FM Tile Tools > Blend Emboss and apply the following settings:

19) Use the mover tool again to move this square out of the way.
Go to the layer palette, unhide the third copied layer and click on it to make it active.
Go to Effects > Unplugged Tools > Spice Dots and apply the following settings:

20) Using the mover Tool, arrange the squares as below:

21) Click on the original tube canvas and go to Edit > Copy. Now click back on your work in progress and go to Edit > Paste > As New Layer.

You will now have this:

22) Go to Image > Resize and resize by 70%, making sure Resize All Layers is NOT checked.
Go to the layer palette and drag the layer down so it's under Raster 2 and reduce the Opacity of the layer to 36.

You should now have this:

23) Go to the materials palette and choose a silver gradient.

24)  Click on the Text Tool and use the following settings:



25) Click on the canvas and type out some text...I typed Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Good Night To All.
It doesn't matter what you type because it can't be read very easily anyway, it's just for decoration.

26) Move the text over to the left and rotate it so it's vertical.

Add a drop shadow using the following settings:

You will now have this:

27) Use the Text Tool and add your name. Go to the layer palette, right click on the vector layer and convert it to a raster layer.

Add an Inner Bevel using the following settings:

29) Go to Image > Add Border (it might tell you that the layers need merging to carry out this operation, click yes)

Use the following settings:

30) Click on the magic wand tool and select the white border. Flood fill it with the silver gradient then add an Inner Bevel using the following settings:

32)  Finally, click on the Tube Tool and choose the Sparkle, set at size 80 and click once to add 1 sparkle.

33) Save as a .jpg and you're done :o)
