This is a very good tool with lot's of uses, I'm going
to show you just one way I use it.
I've included screenshots for PSP versions 7 and 8 as the basic tutorial
is the same for both versions.
I had a sig tag that had a coloured background on it,
I wanted the background to be white so I could use it on MSN groups
message boards so I used the colour replace to change the colour of the
background.
You can use this image to practice on. Right click on
the image and choose Save As. Save to a folder on your hard drive
Doll from
Candybar Dolls

Open your image in PSP

Click on the Dropper Tool
and click on the colour
you want to replace. The colour will go into your top stroke box

PSP 8 |
In your bottom stroke box choose the colour you want
your background to be then click on the little arrow to change them
around

PSP 8 |
Now click on the Colour Replace Tool

PP 8 |
On your Tool Options palette use the following
settings
Now paint the background on your picture. You don't
have to worry about going over the image because the tool will only
change the colour that is in your bottom styles box

This not only works with solid colour, you can use a
pattern

or gradient too.

You might have to change the tolerance settings
depending on what colour you want to change the background too. The best
way to learn is to have a play :o)
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
