Animated Envelope

I used an envelope that I got when I did a tutorial from Designs By Joy

To colour the envelope, I used a background tile that came with a web set I downloaded from Teddy Bear Lane

if you'd like to use one of these, right click on the tile and save to your hard drive

(tiles removed for printing purposes)

(NOTE: You don't have to use a tile, You can use a solid, pattern or gradient fill)

This is quite a long tutorial, there are a few reasons for this!

1) I talk a lot!

2) I use a lot of screenshots

3) I write my tutorials for beginners to PSP so I explain things in detail, just brush over the parts you already know how to do if you're not a beginner ;o)

Let's get started

1) Open a New Canvas   500x500 Transparent

PSP 7
PSP 8

It's big but we're going to crop later

2) Open your envelope front and back pieces

Click on the Back piece

Click on the Copy icon

Click on your new canvas and go to Edit > Paste > As New Layer.

You can now close the original so you can use it again.

Layer Palette > Right Click on Layer 2 and Rename it Back

PSP 7
PSP 8

3) Click on the envelope Front piece

Click on the Copy icon

Click on your new canvas and go to Edit > Paste > As New Layer

Again, you can now close the original.

Layer palette > Right Click on Layer 2 and Rename it Front

PSP 7
PSP 8

4) Using the mover tool   move your envelope pieces into position so they fit together

We're now going to change the colour of our envelope

5) Open a Colour/texture tile of your choice

On your Styles Foreground box....

PSP 7
PSP 8

(1 = Foreground  2 = background)

(NOTE: The foreground box is also known as the Stroke box and the background box is known as the Fill box)

PSP 8

Choose the Pattern icon

Click once in the centre of the stroke box and a new window will open

PSP 7

Click on the thumbnail and find the tile you're using, click on it, then click OK

(alternatively, choose a solid, pattern or gradient in the Styles Foreground box)

NOTE: Make sure the Lock box is checked on your colour palette

PSP 7

This stops your colours/patterns or gradients from changing when you click on a new tool.
